5 common mistakes people make when building with Framer (and how to avoid them)
Framer
1. jul. 2025
Framer is an incredibly powerful tool — but like any platform, it’s easy to fall into certain traps that affect performance, usability, or consistency. Whether you’re just starting or already deep into your workflow, here are five common mistakes to watch out for:
1. Not setting up consistent spacing and text styles
Framer gives you global styles — use them. Relying on ad hoc spacing or font sizes makes future edits a nightmare and leads to messy design.
2. Overusing animations
Framer’s animation engine is tempting, but too much motion distracts. Use animations intentionally — to guide attention, not decorate.
3. Forgetting about mobile behavior
Framer layouts can get tricky across breakpoints. Always test on mobile and make sure scroll areas and responsiveness behave as expected — especially for menus and overlays.
4. Using too many layers and nested frames
Keep things flat where possible. Deep nesting can lead to performance issues and makes edits confusing. Name your layers clearly and use layout tools like stacks and grids effectively.
5. Not optimizing for load performance
While Framer is fast, uncompressed images and heavy Lottie animations can slow things down. Optimize your media before uploading.
Wrap-up:
Framer is flexible, fast, and beautiful — but like any tool, your results depend on how you use it. Stick to structure, test often, and design with intention. Your future self (and your clients) will thank you.
